PlasmaMED Lab hosts IGNITE Innovation Marathon and 4th Translational Partner Meeting

Led by Prof. Cristina Canal and Dr. Francesco Tampieri, the PlasmaMED Lab recently welcomed international Erasmus Mundus students and professors to Barcelona for a high-impact Innovation Marathon & Partner Meeting. As part of the Erasmus+ IGNITE project, participants developed sustainable solutions in food, recycling, and materials, followed by a strategic meeting to advance the project’s translational goals.

As part of the Erasmus+ IGNITE project, the PlasmaMED Lab team, with Prof. Cristina Canal and Dr. Francesco Tampieri leading, have organized the Innovation Marathon and 4th Translational Partner Meeting of the project in Barcelona, from May 7th to the 8th, 2025.

Students from different countries enrolled in the joint Erasmus Mundus GREENANO Master’s Program prepared project topics for the  IGNITEInnovation Marathon and, by combining insights from their master’s courses with topics from the IGNITE nanomodules, exploring sustainable food, waste recycling, and innovative materials. The teams worked very hard to prepare their final projects, which they presented during the event.

Among them, two students that are currently in our labs for their final degree and Master's thesis:

- Alejandro Chacón. Influence of Hydrogel Composition on the Diffusion of Plasma-Generated Reactive Species. TFG Supervisors: Cristina Canal & Francesco Tampieri.

- Vittoria Rogge. Cold atmospheric plasma-treated Hydrogels for bladder cancer therapy . TFM Supervisors: Cristina Canal & Milica Zivanic.

Following the Innovation Marathon, partners and members of IGNITE hold their 4th Translational Partner Meeting.
