AGAUR Innovadors Grant for Technology Transfer funding for PlasmaMED lab
Jan 13, 2025
The PlasmaMED Lab research team has been awarded with funding and support from the Indústria del Coneixement Innovadors Grant 2024. This grant recognizes innovative projects with potential to bridge the gap between research and market application.
PlasmaMED lab secures funding from the Indústria del Coneixement Innovadors Grant 2024 in the category "Innovators" for their cold plasma-based anticancer therapies.
More specifically, project, "PlasmAccelerate: Accelerating transfer of cold plasma-based anticancer therapy for bone cancers" aims to bring their revolutionary technology closer to the productive sector and, therefore, to the patients. It builds upon their previous work under ERC Starting Grant ‘APACHE’ (ID 714793) and ERC Proof of Concept Grant 'TRANSFORMER' (ID 101082096).
The technology clearly stands out from other available or emerging options, and holds the potential to deliver both social and economic benefits by enhancing cancer patient outcomes and quality of life, while potentially lowering treatment costs. For this reason, the next phase will focus on further valorization, regulatory compliance, intellectual property management, stakeholder and investor engagement, and business development.
These tasks will be undertaken by our entrepreneurial figure, Adrià Barceló, along with Cristina Canal and PlasmaMED Lab's team, from February 1st, 2025.
