FECYT's Científicas e Innovadoras, a website that aims to give visibility to nationally and internationally recognized female scientists and innovators, has featured Dr. Cristina Canal as part of their campaign #11F365 to make visible the work of female scientists working in Spain.

Researcher and Innovator Cristina Canal has been featured at FECYT's Científicas e Innovadoras website, as part of their campaig #11F365.

Dr. Canal is Associate Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the UPC, Director of PlasmaMED Lab, member of the Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering Research Group (BBT-SGR), Director of the UPC School of Doctoral Studies and Deputy Director of the CREB UPC - Research Centre for Biomedical Engineering.

She was the recipient of an ERC Starting Grant (APACHE: Atmospheric Pressure plAsma meets biomaterials for bone Cancer HEaling) and an ERC Proof of Concept (TRANSFORMER: Transforming bone cancer therapy with composite biomaterials encapsulating plasma-generated RONS) and is the Action Chair & Grant Holder of PlasTHER: Therapeutical applications of Cold Plasmas COST Action 20114. She has also been Principal Investigator of several National and Autonomic-funded research projects during the last 10 years.

During her career, she has been awarded the L'Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Spain (2011), the Early Career Award in Plasma Medicine 2018 and the prestigious ICREA Acadèmia 2020.
