Cristina Canal, STSM at Technical University Dublin

Dr. Cristina Canal has joined Dr. Daniela Boehm at Technical University Dublin (Ireland) for a Short Term Scientific Mission (STSM), funded by COST Action PlasTHER.

Dr. Cristina Canal has carried out a STSM (Short Term Scientific Mission) at the laboratories of Dr. Daniela Boehm at the Grangegorman Campus of the Technical University Dublin (Ireland) from the 2nd to the 15th July, 2022.

The STSM, funded by COST Action PlasTHER, had the main objective of  studying the effects of different atmospheric plasma sources to determine the concentrations of the main long-lived reactive species within the solutions and compare the efficiency of the plasma system with the one from the home laboratory. Moreover, the hydrogel-forming ability of the material after plasma treatment and its antibacterial activity was evaluated, leading to very interesting results.

During her Research stay in Dublin, Dr. Canal took the opportunity to visit  MSCA Fellow Dr. Joanna Sadowska's laboratories at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and offered a talk to the Department of Anatomy and Regenerative Medicine.
