Funding to investigate a new physical therapy based on cold atmospheric pressure plasmas for the global management of pediatric bone cancer

Dr. Cristina Canal has been awarded with a PLEC project by Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) to develop her project Plasma4KidsCancer: Cold plasma at atmospheric pressure: a physical therapy for the global management of pediatric bone cancer, together with Spanish company Ion Biotech and the Centro Nacional Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Tecnología Agraria y Alimentaria (INIA, CSIC).

Dr. Cristina Canal is the Coordinator and PI of a PLEC project by Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) to develop her proposal Plasma4KidsCancer: Cold plasma at atmospheric pressure: a physical therapy for the global management of pediatric bone cancer, together with Spanish company Ion Biotech and the Centro Nacional Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Tecnología Agraria y Alimentaria (INIA, CSIC).

The main objective of Plasma4KidsCancer is to advance and provide new options for a global approach to bone cancer through the use of of technologies based on cold plasmas. The project intends to advance by combining fundamental mechanistic research on effects of plasma-conditioned fluids and direct cold plasma treatment on both primary and metastatic osteosarcoma, develop new hydrogels to deliver RONS (reactive oxygen and nitrogen species ) and, in a more applied aspect, to perform all necessary essays to approach the technology to the biomedical market
