Meet Our Newest PhD student, Matteo di Meo

Matteo di Meo, with a background in materials science and engineering, has recently joined the PlasmaMED Lab as a PhD student at BBT.

Matteo di Meo has joined the PlasmaMED Lab as PhD student of the "Print4Life: Advanced Research Training for Additive Manufacturing of the Biomaterials and Tissues  of the Future", an MSCA-Doctoral Network funded by HEurope. His main objective in the project is to work on plasma activated hydrogel bioinks for 3D Printing tissue-specific scaffolds.

Matteo joined the Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering Research Group (BBT) on April 1st, 2026, to carry out his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering. His research will be supervised by Dr. Cristina Canal and Dr. Francesco Tampieri. 

His backgroud includes a Master’s thesis in the BBT group titled "Surface and Hydrogel Modifications of Biodegradable Zn alloys for Medical Applications", followed by a six-month experience at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (Italy).
