PlasmaMed team, part of the Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute, which has become a CERCA center

The Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute (IRSJD), the only research center in Catalonia focused on research in pediatric medicine, has been recognized as a CERCA center. This recognition involves the development of frontier research for a higher scientific and economic impact and the improvement of social and individual well-being. The BBT is part of the IRSJD through the CREB-UPC, of which it is a member.
The Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute (IRSJD) is a research and innovation center in biomedicine, focused on the pediatric patient, which was created in 2015 through a collaboration agreement. between Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona (SJD), Universitat de Barcelona (UB) , Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) , the Sant Joan de Déu Health Park (PSSJD) and the Sant Joan de Déu Research Foundation.
The PlasmaMed Lab participates in the IRSJD through the Biomedical Engineering Research Center (CREB), founding partner of the Institute, which groups and coordinates nine UPC research groups that respond to the needs of the Institute in the field of health technologies.
The CERCA recognition, granted by the Board of Trustees of the Institution of Research Centers of Catalonia (CERCA), implies entering the research structure of Catalonia as a research center of quality and effective and efficient management , with a governance model that allows to reach standards of excellence and, at the same time, access to new economic resources that allow to continue advancing with the scientific development of the IRSJD.
The CERCA Institution focuses its actions on contributing to the international presence of Catalan research centers and promoting scientific cooperation and exchange with the best centers and universities around the world. The institution facilitates and promotes the adoption of joint policies in the management of research, scientific development and knowledge transfer. It also works to increase and facilitate the transfer of knowledge to the business sector and society in general, while enhancing the involvement of these agents in the field of research.
