PhD student Rachel LeBlanc has recently returned from a short-term research stay with the Groupe de Recherches sur l'Energétique des Milieux Ionisés (GREMI, Université d'Orléans) in France, under the supervision of Dr. Augusto Stancampiano and Dr. Eric Rober.

Last December, PhD student Rachel LeBlanc performed a short-term research stay with the Groupe de Recherches sur l'Energétique des Milieux Ionisés (GREMI / CNRS / Université d'Orléans) in France.

During her stay, under the supervision of Dr. Augusto Stancampiano and Dr. Eric Robert, she was able to explore the "physical" side of cold atmospheric plasma, expanding her understanding beyond its effects on biological and material targets although, in Rachel's words,  "there is still a lot to learn there, as well!". She was able to characterize the electric field of various plasma sources across different mediums using a Pockels effect-based probe and to visualize the fluid flow of plasma jets using Schlieren imaging.

Rachel holds an AGAUR-FI 2025 Joan Oró grant by Generalitat the Catalunya and is part of the team of ISCIII-funded project PLASMABOOST: Hidrogeles biomiméticos para liberar estrés oxidativo de plasmas fríos estimulan la regeneración de tejidos (IHRC22/00003).
