Rachel LeBlanc, PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Cristina Canal, has won the Award for Best Poster Presentation at SEMIT 2025 Congress, held on October 2-3, 2025, in Barcelona.
The Spanish Society of Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering (SEMIT) was founded as a society in 2024 to address the need to advance the development and application of these promising fields in Spain.
The PhD student presented her work on "Cold atmospheric plasma-treated bioink for tissue regeneration" (R. LeBlanc, A. Espona-Noguera, F. Tampieri, M. Valls, MP. Ginebra, C. Canal) in front of and international audience, arrived to Barcelona to discuss the latest advances and challenges in bioengineering, advanced biomaterials, biofabrication.
Also present in the conference, and presenting his work at AEI-funded project "Plasma4KidsCancer: Cold plasma at atmospheric pressure: a physical therapy for the global management of pediatric bone cancer" (PLEC2022-009277), was PlasmaMED lab student Alfio Arcoria, with a poster presentation: A. Arcoria, F. Tampieri, C. Canal. Evaluation of RONS Diffusion and Penetration in Biopolymeric Hydrogels Exposed to Cold Atmospheric Plasma.
