Truths and myths about cold plasma therapies

Following the appearance of Pablo Motos, a popular Spanish TV host, in a video where Doctor Anna Baeza and himself claimed the existance of a “cell regeneration” machine that uses cold plasmas to give a "shot of energy" to the cells, Dr. Cristina Canal was consulted by various media about what cold plasma therapies are and their actual use in medicine.

After Spanish celebrity Pablo Motos' claimed the existance of a “cell regeneration” machine that uses cold plasmas to give a "shot of energy" to the cells, Dr. Cristina Canal was consulted by several media about cold plasma therapies and their use in medicine.

Dr. Canal is categorical in her answer, "Cold atmospheric plasma exists and is the fourth state of matter. They are being studied for cancer treatments and especially regeneration of chronic wounds and ulcers that are difficult to heal". Nothing more, and nothing less. In words of Mónica García, Minister of Health, "Pseudotherapies only affect people's pockets, at best. The lack of scientific evidence is not only misleading but it can also put health at risk".
